Kia Ora e te whānau!

Ko Scarlett tōku ingoa. Haere mai!
I am a freelance illustrator based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

Currently, I’m chipping at my most difficult kaupapa yet, a Masters of Creative Practice at Unitec Te Pūkenga, where I’m writing and illustrating a graphic novel. Alongside this I’m always taking on new freelance work.

I fill the rest of my time with mahi at Objectspace gallery in Grey Lynn where I have many hats - Gallery assistant, Junior Technician, Archivist and helping out with Comms!

My first love will always be watercolour, gouache and pencil, but ceramics and textiles have been my recent love affairs. I also dabble in bookmaking, printmaking and installation.

My work celebrates the magical and whimsical, and is always inspired by my family and partner.

You can see some of my work here.

Wanna know some more?

If I’m not making, I’ll be wandering around my family’s paddocks with my nephews Alfie and Gus, hunting for bears who stole our hats or running from Elton John (the name of Alf’s imaginary pet dragon).

I love collecting picture books (thank you Unity books). You should see my picture book collection.

Seriously, it’s unhealthy.

My partner Ky and I live in Ōwairaka/Mt Albert with our cat Squash. Ky’s a furniture designer, and we have many looooong debates on what the ultimate best colour combination is.
